Express News Service, Chandigarh: With more cases of immigration frauds surfacing in the region, the Attorney-at-Law from the United States, Sunita Thereja on Thursday suggested that the Indian government should ensure that all immigration agents are registered so that no one is cheated.
"The immigration sector in India is unorganised, but the government should take control of those who are involved in sending people abroad," Thereja said at an awareness programme on ‘How to prevent immigration fraud’.
The awareness programme was organsied by HOPE (Harmonious Omni-directional Public Endeavour), its national convenor, Pankaj Chandgothia said that frauds by unscrupulous immigration agents had surfaced time and again.
"In the past week, the intensity of such frauds seems to have increased. One of the main reasons, why a person becomes a victim of fraud, is a lack of knowledge about proper documentation and procedure prescribed for various kinds of immigration," he said.
